Prevent Blindness Honors Former First Lady Laura Bush With the 2015 Person of Vision Award

CHICAGO (Nov. 10, 2015) – Prevent Blindness, the nation's oldest volunteer eye health and safety organization, honored Former First Lady of the United States, Mrs. Laura Bush, as the recipient of the 2015 Prevent Blindness Person of Vision Award.  The award was presented at the Prevent Blindness Person of Vision Dinner on Nov. 5 at the Drake Hotel in Chicago.

The annual Prevent Blindness Person of Vision Award recognizes an individual for outstanding leadership and dedication in the field of vision and eye health.  The award was presented to Mrs. Bush in recognition for her dedication to children’s literacy efforts and advocating the importance of healthy eyesight in helping children succeed today and in the future.

Event sponsors included Allergan, Genentech, Atlantic Trust, Drinker, Biddle & Reath, Glaukos, Notal Vision, Richard & Linda Elias Foundation, Zyloware, Alabama Vision Coalition, Associated Bank, Epsilon, the Illinois College of Optometry, Jobson Medical, Lions Clubs International, Local Eye Site, Magnetrol International Inc., Pascale Communications, Phillip Warth, Regeneron, Spectrios Center, UAB Callahan Eye Hospital, The Vision Council and VSP.  All proceeds from the event went to support Prevent Blindness programs.
