PBA Elects Brette McClellan of Alcon to Board Of Directors

CHICAGO (April 12, 2012) – Prevent Blindness America, the nation’s oldest volunteer eye health and safety organization, has announced that Brette McClellan, vice president, health policy government affairs of Alcon, has been elected to its National Board of Directors.

At Alcon, McClellan leads the development and communication of Alcon’s policy positions pertaining to regulations and legislation that impact the ability of drug and device companies to develop and market products for eye care.  She also oversees the market access function within Alcon, which seeks fair and adequate payment for technologies used to improve or save vision.

McClellan has previously volunteered for PBA by helping to orchestrate two Congressional Vision Caucus (CVC) Capitol Hill events hosted jointly by AdvaMed’s Ophthalmic Sector and PBA.  The CVC is a bicameral and bipartisan coalition of more than 100 Congressional Members.  The group focuses on three priority areas: research, prevention/public health and access to treatment and rehabilitation.

McClellan earned both a B.A. in economics and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago.

“We have been privileged to have Ms. McClellan assist us in making our CVC events a great success.  We look forward to her expertise and guidance on our board of directors to help keep PBA moving forward and expand our advocacy efforts even further,” said Hugh R. Parry, president and CEO of Prevent Blindness America.  “We would also like to thank Alcon for its continued support and partnership of our efforts and programs for many years.”
